Oops. yeah, it should be, "In June <strong>18</strong>40, in the flames and smoke of gunpowder of the Opium War..." That'd be really confusing, since China was getting whipped by foreign powers in both 1840 (British and French mostly) and in 1940 (Japanese). But different wars. I'll go fix it.

Snake isn't bad. We had it in soup, kind of flaky, but lots of bones. If you search for "snake" you'll see some photos. Once I get the photo galleries up, you'll see even more!

So I was reading this article and I noticed the sign above about Snakes not being a protected animal. How does snake taste? I'm from Texas I should now the answer to this question, but I thought I would ask. Chicken is not a valid response.

One other thing, the English script posted on this article says "the opium war in 1940". That is right in the middle of World War 2 a year before the United States offically entered. China did have americans fighting the Japanese during that time. That's where the Flying Tigers in their P-40's got their name. But, I'm thinking this may be a miss print. Is this a miss print or do the Chinesse most wars fought on their land against foreigners as opium wars? I love this history. I know so little about it thanks for sharing.
